HAAPE believes that starting new chapters is a great way to expand our reach and increase our impact. Here are some considerations and initial guidelines for starting a HAAPE Chapter:
Considerations:
- Before considering starting a new chapter, research HAAPE to understand our mission, vision, values, and operations.
- Consider the geographic area your chapter will cover.
- Research the local community to identify potential supporters, volunteers, and partners.
- Think about how much time you can dedicate to the chapter. Since HAAPE is an all-volunteer organization, we do not have specific expectations of your time commitment.
Reach Out to Us
- Contact HAAPE to express your interest in establishing a new chapter. Please send us a bio/resume along with the area in which you would like to start a chapter.
- HAAPE’s Executive Operations Committee (EOC) will arrange a virtual meeting to discuss your interests and how we may work together.
- HAAPE’s EOC members will help to determine the feasibility of locating employers, candidates, and programs in your targeted area.
- Once it is mutually agreed to move forward with your chapter, HAAPE will arrange time to provide you with a more detailed overview of HAAPE’s operating model, contacts, resources, and methods to communicate on your chapter’s plans and activities.
How to get started
- Recruit a team: Building a strong team of volunteers is crucial for the success of a new chapter. Recruit individuals who share the same passion for HAAPE’s mission and can bring diverse skills and expertise.
- Develop a plan: Develop a plan for the new chapter, including goals, timelines, priority contacts and communications. This plan should align with HAAPE’s Mission and Vision and be approved by HAAPE’s Executive Operations Committee.
- Fundraising: Develop a fundraising plan to support the new chapter’s operations and programs. This may include seeking donations, grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Launch and promote: Launch the new chapter and promote it to the local community through events, and partnerships with other organizations. Communicate regularly with HAAPE’s EOC members to maintain alignment and support.
- Monitor and evaluate: Continuously monitor and evaluate the new chapter’s progress against its goals and strategies. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure success.
